- Learn and practise causative forms in five tenses with the formula subject + have/get + object + past participle, from We have our accounts audited annually to He has had his vision checked, including negatives, questions, the formal-informal difference between have and get, and unpleasant events such as had his laptop stolen.
What students are going to cover
In this lesson, students will explore why companies and professionals pay specialists to do work for them, starting with three lead-in questions and three illustrated scenarios: an executive haircut, a company car on a hydraulic lift and a corporate photo shoot. They build vocabulary related to outsourcing, maintenance and quality control with ten target words, a ten-row word formation matrix and a five-sentence gap-fill. Students read a corporate update about Apex Solutions, find six causative structures and identify their tenses, then study a grammar reference covering word order, five tenses, have versus get, negatives and questions. Controlled practice includes eight multiple-choice questions and ten sentence rewrites such as I had my phone stolen, followed by a five-question pair interview and a model conversation. This causative have something done lesson plan includes a teacher version with answers and explanations, an interactive worksheet, 22 slides, two-part homework, 25 flashcards and 24 speaking cards. By the end of the lesson, learners will be able to form causative sentences in five tenses, choose between have and get by register, and describe services they arrange at work.
